Giveaway - The Guys' Guy's Guide to Love

January 6, 2012

Book Giveaway Time!

Would you like to kick off the year reading The Guys’ Guy’s Guide to Love, a new novel about modern love, sex and relationships set amidst Manhattan’s Madison Avenue? The book has been described as "Sex and the City" meets "Mad Men."

Synopsis:

When Max Hallyday, a rising New York adman, joins a glitzy Midtown agency, he knows the game is winner-takes-all. But when his best friend, Roger, a serial womanizer, seduces Max's billionaire client and puts his career in jeopardy, Max strikes back. He pens a column exposing the "Rogers" prowling the city: The Guys' Guy's Guide to Love. Championed by magazine publisher and former flame, Cassidy Goodson, Max becomes famous... or is it notorious? With the women of New York clamoring for more, sparks begin to fly with Cassidy. Can Max survive his instant celebrity and cutthroat rivals to discover where his heart really belongs? The Guys' Guy's Guide to Love is a fast-paced take of flawed men and savvy women competing for love, sex, power, and money in the city where they play for keeps.

About the Author:

Robert Manni is President of Agent 16 advertising agency in midtown Manhattan. For the past two decades, he has watched, played, and succeeded in Madison Avenue's relentlessly changing game. A true devotee of New York City, Robert is inspired by and remains in awe of its people, energy, attitude, and romantic backdrop. He is a world traveler, Reiki Master and teacher, certified advanced clinical Master Hypnotist, graduate of the Jose Silva Method/Life System, NYC Marathoner, and a bona fide "Guy's Guy" who somehow survived twenty years of single life in the big city. The Guys' Guy's Guide to Love is Robert's debut novel. He is currently working on his second book.

Reviews:

“Robert Manni has a message for his fellow men. You’ve got some catching up to do…His words of wisdom on that subject are woven throughout his first novel, ‘The Guys’ Guy’s Guide To Love’, which follows the lives of two New York men representing…the angel and the devil on every guy’s shoulder.” ~ The New York Post

“Prepare to man up and hunker down for this exuberant guided tour of the male sexual psyche.” ~ Ian Kerner, NY Times best-selling author of She Comes First and Love in the Time of Colic

If you’d like to enter for a chance to win the book, just include “The Guys’ Guy’s” in your comment. (I just like the repetition with the different, yet strategic, apostrophe placement.)

You must enter by Friday, January 13th for a chance to receive a hard copy or e-version of the book. The winner will be chosen via Random.org. Good luck!

* Pursuant to FTC Guidelines, I received this book free of charge from the publisher. Giveaways do not constitute product endorsements.

Ghirardelli #NOM

January 13, 2012

My mom and I used to have a little chocolate after lunch and dinner. We might have also enjoyed a few chocolate chip cookies or an ice cream sandwich at snack time, too. If you looked up "chocoholic" in the dictionary, there would have been pictures of us there with guilty expressions on our faces.

In 1986, my mom suggested that we give up chocolate as our New Year’s Resolution. She lasted two weeks. I haven’t eaten any chocolate since I was 13 years old.

The first few weeks were tough, but after that, I stopped craving it. If there comes a day when I want it again, I’ll have some, but I don’t expect that to happen.

It’s somewhat ironic that in certain circles, I’m known for my chocolate chip cookies. When I was a nanny, I would bake for the children and make extra cookies for my friends. I was the girl, showing up at Happy Hour or parties with bags of cookies for everyone.

I stopped making cookies during law school, and for all intents and purposes, I didn’t resume again until I dated someone who loved chocolate chip cookies more than anything. (Well, almost anything...)

I would make him a batch from scratch every week. Making him happy made me happy, and if there were any extras, I was able to put smiles on the faces of my doctors and friends.

I think that my chocolate chip cookies were exceptional because of three things:

1. Organic Brown Eggs;
2. Organic Butter; and
3. Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate Chips.

I never deviated from the recipe on the back of the bag of chips, and I never met someone who didn’t like my cookies.

When Ghirardelli reached out to me about its new line of Gourmet Milk Chocolate, I thought it fitting. The line includes Gourmet Milk Creamy Devotion(TM) rich and creamy 32% cacao chocolate, Gourmet Milk Sea Salt Escape(TM) with sea salt and roasted almonds, and Gourmet Milk Coconut Rendezvous(TM) with toasted coconut flakes.

The company conducted a study of how more than 2,000 adults want to upgrade their life in 2012. Not surprisingly, finances topped the list (67%), followed by health (51%), diet/nutrition (47%), appearance/looks (38%) and career (38%).

Since my ex-boyfriend and I broke up, I’ve baked chocolate chip cookies a total of three times. And, I miss it! I want to upgrade my life by baking more chocolate chip cookies.

Baking is an inexpensive way to say, “Thanks,” or “I love you,” or “Sorry, it’s been a rough month,” to those in my life. Baking cookies relaxes me and makes me happy. I shouldn’t have to be in love to whip up batches for others.

Ghirardelli has offered to send its new line of Gourmet Milk Chocolate to one lucky reader. Comment to enter with the answer to this question:

What was the name of the guy I used to bake Ghirardelli chocolate chip cookies for all the time?

(Since that might cater to longer-time readers, I’ll throw out a clue. I started the blog after this guy and I ended our relationship.)

Readers with the correct answer are eligible for one chance to win. The winner will be chosen randomly by Random.org on Friday, January 20, 2012. xoxo

* Pursuant to FTC Guidelines, this giveaway is provided by Ghirardelli. The writer is not receiving any compensation or product in exchange for this post.

I think the answer is Lawyer Boy. Let me know if you want to bake chocolate chip cookies together some time. I have used the "Neiman Marcus" recipe with Ghirardelli chocolate before=yum! The only thing about that recipe, other than it is delicious, is that it makes a LOT of cookies, so it is better done by a team of two. Maybe we should wait until after F4P though. :-)

Book Giveaway - What Every Woman Wishes

January 27, 2012

It's Friday! Time for a giveaway!

Valentine's Day will be here in less than a month. If ever there were a time for men to learn more about what women want, this is it! Make Valentine's Day a day neither of you will ever forget with this reveal of what women actually want - yes, even the secrets women usually won't give up.

Synopsis

#1: We don't want to hold his underwear.

Inspired by her years of experience as a straightforward woman with predominantly male friends, Sylvia D. Lucas' What Every Woman Wishes Modern Men Knew About Women - whose message at its core is "We actually very much love men" - is a girl talking to a guy from her bar stool to his. No trickery, no cunning, no game playing - this is the dirt on women men wish they'd known for years (or that they'd always suspected was true - and now it's confirmed!).

Here's what men think they know:

They know the experts say men should do domestic things to turn a woman on. But why? Why do women like it? It's not for the break they get from doing it themselves.

Women like roses...(Wait. Or do they?)

Women like jewelry, ANY jewelry, as long as it sparkles. And as long as it's from him, she'll love it. (Wrong. So wrong.)

Women sometimes issue marriage ultimatums, and men would be wise to respect them. 1. What's behind that ultimatum, and is it really an ultimatum? 2. It's fine for a man to respect it (once he knows what it is), but caving to it? Stop!

Sometimes men wonder why they have no idea what a woman is thinking, why she acts like she's not interested but keeps saying "yes" when he asks her out. What the hell?

Humorous, conversational, and brutally frank, What Every Woman Wishes Modern Men Knew About Women addresses all of the above (and more) from a refreshingly honest and modern perspective.

Said one married (female) beta reader who is incredibly private and would rather remain anonymous, "This book seems like it's MORE than just 'what every man should know about women'....it's more about the modern-day woman, the independent, 'we don't need you for things, we need you for companionship and we want you to understand we are just like you' woman. It started some good conversations between me and my husband because he sometimes has a hard time figuring out what type I am. This helped me to explain to him what I want, need, or expect as a woman."

Reviews

"It is my opinion that this is perhaps one of the best books on this particular topic I have read. And I have read my fair share of relationship books. But unlike previous books I’ve read, which I found to be rather limiting in their messages, I found What Every Woman Wishes… to be more down to earth and realistic in its presentation. Sylvia D. Lucas is witty, clever, intelligent and logical as she makes many good points on topics ranging from marriage to myths surrounding gifts. This is a book I would highly recommend to all men – married, dating and single. It is that good (and important of a topic). I give it 5 out of 5 stars. Also, as a [recovering] germaphobe, the underwear story really freaked me out." – Joe Glasgow

"I read it in one sitting, straight through. Loved it! Talked my boyfriend's ear off about it for half a day so that he just smiled and nodded after a while. After reading WEWWMDNAW, I felt like I had just hung out with a girlfriend and shared our views on relationships between men and women. Quick, light read that delivers a valuable message." – Amazon.com review (4/5 stars)

We don't always want an orgasm. Sometimes, we just want you to hurry up and have yours so we can get on to the next thing.

Wait, am I going to get in trouble with the women-folk for saying that aloud?

Jennifer - Secret spiller! It's true, though. And, actually, I'd add that it's not even always about getting to the next thing, but that sex is enjoyable in itself. An orgasm is great, sure, but the rest can be damn good without it.

I wish men knew that just because a woman want commitment, it doesn't mean she is pressuring you in to marriage. They are two separate things!
Posted by Teacher Girl on 01/27/12

By "commitment," do you mean exclusivity? I only ask because to many, "commitment" can sound a lot like "invisible promise ring." (Even to me, a woman.) But "exclusive" says something completely different (to me, anyway).

I'm not interested in the prize since I'mnot sexually active right now. I just wanted to add that I think this business is a really cool idea. For better or worse I've had plenty of unprotected sex because "he"didn't have a condom and I didn't feel like buying them either. I definitely would have signed up for something like this.

I would love to win because I was just told that I have to be off of the pill for health reasons after 8 solid years relying on this for protection. I want to continue to have sex despite my health issues, but I need to be safe and to protect myself. I am in no position to have a child right now, and I know that. This would be a perfect stepping stone to helping me in this department as I have never needed to worry about condoms before (I have only had sex in committed relationships, except once where a condom was used) and really know nothing of buying them or having them "handy." Would love this help!

Giveaway - Hands on Sexy Feet

February 24, 2012

It's time for a Friday Giveaway, and this is a great one!

Are you familiar with reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient healing art of stimulating the feet that reduces stress and improves your physical well-being. Experts estimate that 80-90% of disease is stress related, and massage combats this stress by helping us relax. In each foot there are over 7,000 nerve endings - called reflexes - which correspond to every organ and system within your body. Simply pressing on those reflex points can elicit a response from the nervous system that helps to soothe and balance the entire body.

I've been a fan of reflexology since high school, when my mom began receiving treatments at a holistic health center. We had a book about reflexology at home and began giving our own foot massages with the goal of stimulating the correct pressure points.

I wish that wellness expert Michelle Ebbin's books had been available back then, but we're lucky that we can rely on her expertise now!

“My goal is to teach people about the benefits of massage therapy and how to incorporate it into your lifestyle for optimal health, enhanced relationships and overall well-being.” ~ Michelle Ebbin

Michelle is passionate about the healing benefits of touch. She founded Basic Knead in 1994 with the goal of creating unique massage products that everyone can use to bring the healing power of touch into their daily life. A graduate of Columbia University and the Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing (I.P.S.B.) in Los Angeles, Michelle has authored best-selling books and created award-winning DVDs and massage products.

A few highlights from Michelle Ebbin's illustrious career include:

• #1 best-selling author on books about Reflexology & Baby Massage including:

- Hands on Sexy Feet
- Hands on Feet
- Hands on Baby Massage
- The Little Book of Reflexology

• Featured expert & host in the #1 massage DVD series in the World (Gaiam/Living Arts)

• Featured massage expert for iamplify.com

• Featured on Live with Regis and Kelly and The View and in Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire

• Partner in the development of a new touch therapy program for cancer patients with City of Hope, one of the leading NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the world

• Spokesperson for The Naturalizer brand shoe company’s N5 Comfort Shoe and their Wellness from the Ground Up campaign

Follow Michelle on Twitter and Facebook to find out more about her.

Michelle has generously offered to give one lucky reader a copy of her best-selling book about reflexology, Hands on Sexy Feet, with the Sexy Love Sox!

What's the book about?

The book is the follow-up to the bestselling Hands on Feet. This new book-plus package from Michelle K. Ebbin teaches you how to use reflexology to stimulate the body’s erogenous zones to improve sexual intimacy and performance, in addition to overall health and well-being. With the included pair of unisex, one-size-fits-all Sexy Love Sox™, descriptive graphics on the sole of each sock show exactly where to press to relax your partner and turn him or her on. The user-friendly book includes simple techniques and helpful information about reflexology, how it works, and how it can be used to boost your libido and naturally improve your sex life.

With the unique map of the body on the bottom of each sock, easy-to-follow instructions, and line illustrations throughout, Hands on Sexy Feet makes the benefits of sensual reflexology accessible to everyone—and a lot of fun to use.

Want to win a copy of Michelle Ebbin's book and the Love Sox? One winner will be chosen randomly on Friday, March 2, 2012 at noon EST. To enter, you must be a US resident and comment below with the words, "Hands on Sexy Feet!"  Good luck! xoxo

Doughnuts for Amy Giveaway

March 9, 2012

It's time for a book giveaway, and this is a sweet one!

Care to win a copy of the fictional novel, Doughnuts for Amy, by John Malik?

What's the book about?

Nick St. Germaine, Executive Chef at Woodmont, an upscale retirement community, is struggling emotionally as he approaches the second anniversary of the death of his wife, Robin. Plagued by nightmares and challenged by his son to move forward one day at a time, Nick is doing that, but just barely. He takes solace in early morning workouts at his gym, long runs and long hours in Woodmont’s kitchen.

An unexpected change in management brings a new Director, Amy Sommers, a divorced nurse with little knowledge of the Food and Beverage business. Nick is quick to show his disdain for Amy, so much so that she comes close to showing him the door her first day on the job. Emotionally distraught, brooding and temperamental yet Amy also sees in Nick a great cook and effective manager. Soon Amy finds the gentle, compassionate side of him and her affection for Nick grows.

As Amy manages the many facets of Woodmont, she soon realizes her biggest challenge lies in the broken heart of Nick St. Germaine. She bides her time as Nick has a disastrous relationship with a beautiful physician and then offers her hand in support and comfort as Nick’s memories of Robin threaten to cloud his ability to manage his team. To her surprise, Amy must also compete for his attention with a group of 80+ year-old widows. When Todd Stafford, son of a Woodmont resident, goes from being a troublemaker to a threat to Woodmont’s security, Amy is afraid Nick may lose control at the worst possible moment.

With a supporting cast of quirky cooks, cranky widows and endearing octogenarians, Doughnuts for Amy is a six-course tasting menu of romance and comedy that will have you asking, “What’s for dessert?”

About the Author:

Originally from New Orleans, author John Malik along with his wife Amy owned and operated 33 Liberty Restaurant in Greenville, SC from 2001 until 2008 and following that John was Executive Chef at two retirement communities in the Greenville area. So I feel slightly uncomfortable but hey you gotta live sometime right?! So I have NEVER, EVER, EVER had a toy in my life. My family and older friends always make me feel like it is a "sin" to have the urges, let alone have something to "cure" the urge. I recently was exposed/participated in oral sex activities so I am now trying to explore my sexual "nature" if you will. I would love to have the toy because this would be a great gift to reach out and touch myself. Also, maybe once I do this I can actually tell my bf what pleases me. I have an idea but I am so unsure because I never really had an orgasm before :( So I think I NEED this in my life.

The Right Man Business Plan Giveaway

May 11, 2012

It's time for another Friday giveaway!

Looking for Success in the Boardroom and the Bedroom? Ron Williams' New Book Teaches Women How to Use Business Principles to Find the Right Man!

Why are so many women who have successfully climbed the corporate ladder in their fabulous heels, striking out in the romance department? They make great decisions in the boardroom and lousy choices for the bedroom. They can start a company, but can’t end a bad relationship. This book uses an innovative methodology to help solve the modern woman’s plight of finding the right man. The book, The Right Man Business Plan, educates women on how to have a successful, healthy relationship, by applying the same approach used to start and successfully run a business—with vision, strategy, planning, and accountability!

The book provides readers with tools to find Mr. Right using fundamental business principles. It provides informational gold mines, such as the four stages of a relationship, the four things all men want, and where to meet quality men while avoiding the “losers.” Unlike the typical self-help book, the author highlights the contemporary perils and parallels of professional and personal relationships. The Right Man Business Plan’s entertaining and easy Business 101 guidelines help readers identify if they are operating as a relationship Sole Proprietor, Limited Liability Corporation, Partnership, or Corporation, so that they can determine what kind of partner they would be most compatible with.

The manuscript does not ignore the role emotions play in relationships, but suggests business acumen and strategies can improve judgment and decision making, which will lead to relationship success. The book teaches women not only to choose partners with their heart, but also with their head! Relationship insanity is quickly becoming an epidemic. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results with each changing partner causes frustration. This book will help put an end to the cycle of disappointment by introducing a new way to think about relationships.

The Right Man Business Plan author, Ronald Williams, is a relationship strategist, dynamic and crowd-pleasing speaker and trainer. Currently, Mr. Williams is President of the Brand Enhancing Strategy Team (B.E.S.T.), a training and development company that specializes in leadership/management development, team building, and executive coaching.

In his inaugural book, the former corporate executive compares the similarities between business and romance in an insightful and informative way. Williams held key positions with companies like Nike, Champion Products, Wilson Sporting Goods, and Pelle Pelle, before starting his own consulting company specializing in leadership training, team building, and executive coaching.

“In order to build a house you need a blueprint, to make a movie you need a script, and to find the right man you need a plan,” says Williams. “I hope while reading this book you use your time and space to identify new solutions to old problems…discover patterns of behavior that no longer serve you well and change them.”

Want to learn the Four Cardinal Principles of The Right Man Business Plan Model for Women, including how to only date men who are worthy to be in a relationship with you? Comment with the best piece of business advice that you've ever received for a chance to win a hard copy of this book.

Rules: You must reside in the continental United States to enter. The winner will be chosen at random from Random.org on Friday, May 18, 2012. Pursuant to FTC Guidelines, no compensation or product was received in exchange for hosting this giveaway.

Good luck and have a great weekend! xoxo

I am a clinical psychologist who works with tons of amazing, beautiful, bright women who can't stop dating losers.
The biggest difficulty that I encounter in my practice is that these smart, beautiful woman KNOW these men aren't right for them and date/pursue them anyway.
It's a concept I have spent much time thinking about and trying to understand.
I'm glad to see this book!
I am looking forward to reading it.
I'm always looking for solid, smart, hip and clever books to recommend to my patients.
